The below guide refers only to firefox browser. HTTPS everywhere for mobile users is only active for developers or advanced users which can be enabled in about:config.
Desktop users can follow the following steps to enable HTTPS everywhere in firefox.
- Go to Firefox Settings
- Then select Privacy & Security option
- Scroll to the bottom of the settings page
- Finally, enable HTTPS-Only Mode
The below guide refers only to Chrome browser. HTTPS everywhere is now active for both desktop and mobile users as from Chrome 94 and above.
Steps to activate HTTPS everywhere in Chrome browser.
- Go to Chrome browser Settings page
- Select Privacy and security
- Select Security option
- Scroll down to the
- Finally, toggle on the “Always use secure connections”
Interestingly, HTTPS everywhere can also be activated in Chrome browsers with this feature under the flag chrome://flags/#https-only-mode-setting.
The HTTPS everywhere feature is considered an experimental feature on this browser. However, Edge 92 has this feature.
Steps to activate HTTPS everywhere in Microsoft Edge browser.
- Go to edge://flags/#edge-automatic-https and toggle on the Automatic HTTPS feature.
- Then restart the browser.
Also, you can enable HTTPS everywhere in Edge by visiting edge://settings/privacy > Select the option “Always switch from http to https (connection errors might occur more often)”.
The macOS Big Sur and macOS Catalina devices by default, have enabled the HTTPS everywhere feature. No extra setting changes is expected from the user.
This change is applied to Safari 15 and above.
